Gauteng Public Further Education and Training have in the last few years established and knitted themselves into a formidable network of education and training fountains in tune with the varied and changing needs of society. Whilst focussing on the new National Certificate (Vocational) programmes, the colleges are also active in the delivery of many other responsive programmes, including skills and learnerships in most of the sectors of the economy.
The bursaries that have been made available by the Department of Education for deserving college students have gone a long way in making this network of colleges a real livewire to the communities where these colleges and their delivery sites are situated.
Indeed, wherever one is in Gauteng, there is a Further Education and Training college, or campus offering programmes that can open a new future
All Gauteng FET colleges echo the words; ‘Join us with pride!’

The Gauteng Marketing Forum (GMF) for Public FET Colleges was established to jointly drive promotional campaigns and promote the Further Education and Training (FET) Colleges as first choice institutions in Gauteng. Coming together under these auspices, the 8 Public FET Colleges of Gauteng have enjoyed the benefits of joint provincial- driven marketing campaigns that aimed to educate the public about the brand and products of the Public Colleges and making education more accessible to all.
During November and December 2008 as well as in January 2009, GMF made a breakthrough and launched its first collaborative 6 hourly radio shows on community radio stations on the NC(V) programmes as well as a joint television advertisement on SABC 2.
The message that Public FET Colleges offer high quality programmes that address the skills shortages in South Africa, was conveyed to the respective communities.
The National Certificate (Vocational) {NC(V)} programmes are aimed at goal orientated, bright young learners that want to make a career choice and acquire the necessary skills to become job ready!
It is therefore a total misconception that FET Colleges offer a second chance to high school drop-outs or learners that feel that they can not “cope” with an academic career.
Excellent career opportunities await students that are prepared to work diligently and hard and who attend their classes and make the most of their career choices. To make this education more accessible to learners who want to make a contribution to the country’s economy, the Department of Education has also made available NC(V) Bursaries. These bursaries, like any other, are available subject to the learner meeting the requirements outlined.
